I did the auto update to the 7.3.1 and now my iTunes will not start. It started once or twice. I tried downloading it again and it gave me the option of repairing or rmoving so i chose repairing and it finished installing and started up. now it won't start again. I think it caused my iPod to lose the music in it.
If i remove iTunes and reinstall it, will it lose my library on the computer?

thanks
Mike

I have the same problem. I also cannot reinstall iTunes since the previous version cannot be removed. It also says that the data is corrupted. The files seem to be corrupted. What is supprising is that I used iTunes on the same day that I discovered the problem. And yes, I have the latest version of iTunes downloaded.

Are you getting any sort of error message when you try to launch itunes? If so, what does it say?

Or are you getting no error messages whatsoever?

I did not get any message. I have iTunes started now but it does not seem to be syncing with the iPod. It may be an iPod problem though because when i am listening to the iPod it plays part of a song and then skips to th next one. I reset the iPod but it is still doing the same thing. Could this mean it is going on the fritz?

    luv2rideharleys,

You mention two problems with your iPod:

First it isn't showing up in iTunes. Second, your iPod is not playing back music correctly.

Is this an iPod Shuffle? If so you may want to try the iPod Shuffle reset utility from http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/

If it isn't a iPod Shuffle, try putting the iPod into Disk mode, and see if it is detected. If it is, you may need to restore the iPod.

Beyond, those suggestions, there are a few other suggestions, but narrowing down the issue a bit would help.

Does the "Charging" or "Do Not Disconnect" screen come up on the iPhone when connected?

    Thank you,

    Nathan C.

    ebonychic,

Reinstalling iTunes does not touch your iTunes Library, your songs, and their information will still be in the iTunes library.

    Hope this helps,
