Installed 10.4.10 update = VPN fails to launch

Ever since I installed the 10.4.10 update my Cisco 4.6 fails to launch properly. Get error: "Error 51: IPC socket allocation failed with error fffffffffffffffch. This is most likely due to the Cisco Systems, Inc. VPN Service not being started. Please start this service and try again."

Any thoughts, wisdom, or suggestions?

Error has occurred every attempt since the OS update (and never occurred before).

iMac PowerPC G5, Mac OS X (10.4.10), 1.8 GHz 2GB

iirc, if you have the latest Cisco updates, then you need to uninstall it, then reinstall it and maybe repair permissions and clear some caches.

I have seen this message occasionally; it is normally fixed by re-booting. However, the Cisco client is currently at 4.9; perhaps an update is in order.
