iPhone Bluetooth In Car problems - Audi 06 and other issues

1st - when my car connects to my phone - it works fine - but for some reason, my phone disconnects bluetooth within 10 mins and won't reconnect. The only way to get it fixed is to shut off bluetooth in phone and reopen it. I can shut of my car and restart my car, but it seems do nothing good. This is the first time ever, i had problems with my built in-car bluetooth. Audi's bluetooth is very generic, has worked with all phones i've had so far including Motorola, Nokia and even LG.

2nd (related to car mode) - when the phone jams the "bluetooth" or automatically cancels the connection with car - it actually is "still on" within phone. So WHEN I GET A CALL - it "tries" to transfer call to "AUDI HD BLUETHOOTH". This is even SO annoying as my car is 50 miles away in my garage!!!!!!!!

APPLE NEEDS TO FIX THIS ASAP!!!!!!

Umm...well, Apple can't make the iPhone compatible with everything--and Bluetooth is, unfortunately, a very loose standard. I have a 2005 Audi and it has been spotty with Bluetooth phones; I have tested dozens of smartphones with it, and about half had some problem--typically the same one you list, where it loses the connection. In fact, the iPhone works better than most phones with the Audi; at least it transfers the received calls, etc. My Treo 750 didn't work at all, and the Blackberry 8800 connected, but often lost the connection and never showed any signal strength or call data.

Personally, I think this is more of an Audi problem. I would complain to Audi and not just Apple.

I posted this in the 1.01 update forum, but I thought it may be useful here. I'll also mention I'm an Audi dealer and I have forwarded the bugs to Audi to hopefully work on their end as well. Hopefully this update solved some of the issues permanently....

I was having the following problems when I connected to my 07 Audi A6 before the update:

1) loud buzzing from car speakers immediately after outgoing call is initiated (every time)
2) Volume bar comes up on iphone screen without me pushing it (every time)
3) After I turn off my car and exit, later when iphone rings, it still thinks I am connected to Audi
4) When phone power saver kicks in, so does the bluetooth connection
5) Unless wi-fi is turned off, I get a terrible connection with car. If wi-fi is off, I have a clear connection

After making a few test calls after the update, I am still experiencing #2, but I did not have problems with 1, 3 and 5. I didn't test it out long enough to see whether #3 was an issue. Hopefully there was some progress made with the bluetooth issues.

I have an A6 and am having continuous problems with the bluetooth connection to my iPhone. It pairs, but sometimes connects and sometimes does not. None of my calls to Apple have helped, except that today they acknowledged that this was a common problem and that hopefully the tech people would find a fix. My Audi dealer says they have a number of owners with the same problem but so far have not gotten a solution from Apple.

I activated my iPhone just a few days ago. My phone is on 1.0.2. I unfortunately experience pretty much all the problems described in earlier postings in my 07 Audi A4. The phone worked beautifully for 2 days. Now I just can't get it to connect anymore. I'll definitely try a few things listed in this forum.

What makes me wonder is that my Plantronics bluetooth headset works flawlessly. Doesn't that suggest an issue with Audi's bluetooth implementation? My old MW5 smartphone also had issues with the Audi BT. It always lost its connection after abouut 10sec but automatically reconnected whenever I received or placed a call and stayed connnected afterwards. Not the case with the iPhone. I hope Audi will also look into this.

I just brought my A-6 2005 into Service. I got the iphone as a gift...using the monster cable FM transmitter. All of a sudden my MMI system started to switch on and off all the time, even when the car was off. Should I not be able to get or make blue tooth calls or listen to the ipod feature through the speakers? I can't seem to get an answer from Apple Techs. They tell me that they have no info on accessories. I had my 30 gig video ipod and a razor phone and they worked just fine. Now this. I even hooked up the iphone to a mini speaker system that we take on vacation, and it would not play. What is up with this? Any help would be appreciated...
Thanks
