My wife asked me how to get her new audiobook of the Harry Potter CDs out of her music library and into the audiobook library. She bought the CD set at the store for the last book, but bought all of the other books on iTunes and those showed up in her audiobooks.
I also have the Harry Potter audiobooks on CD. The difference between those audiobooks and the ones that go into the Audiobooks library is that the ones purchased from iTunes have features such as playback speed and chapters within the tracks that Audiobooks imported from a CD do not.
Only audiobooks purchased from the iTunes Store will go into the audiobooks library. Ones imported from CDs are treated as Music. I would suggest you make a folder of Harry Potter Playlists (If you have more than one HP audiobook) then make a playlist for each book.

This is not so.
If the file type/extension is .m4b, it will go into the Audiobooks section of iTunes/iPod.
It's very simply to do.
See the link above.
Downloaded podcasts as well as regular audio CDs I have put into the audiobooks section.
