'Special Character' problem suggestion for Hosts

I'm sure the powers that be are working diligently to correct the post-update problems, but I'm really concerned that in the interim a lot of users looking to Discussions for help are instead going to find things that hurt them because of the way "special characters" are being mishandled.

In particular, I frequently use the tilde shorthand method of referring to home folder path names. Currently, that results in the tilde (apparently) being interpreted as a formating character (for subscripts?) & being removed from path names. Thus, there is no visible difference between "/Library" & "{tilde}/Library" paths in posts other than the formatting. Obviously, telling someone to remove something from a home folder is dangerous if it appears they are being told to remove a similar named item from the /Library folder!

Since hapless users may not know anything about these issues, is it possible to post a warning to at least the main Discussions page about this? Announcements buried in this forum are not going to reach most users looking for help....
