can't add attachments in hotmail from Safari

Bit of an odd one. Using hotmail after recent upgrade to OSX, as used to before the upgrade.

Mostly works OK, but if replying to an e-mail and attempting to attach a file, when the 'OK' button or the 'OK, Attach another file' button is pressed, all that happens is the first 8 or so characters of the URL address in the address bar are highlighted.

Anyone else found this, is it a bug, any fixes/work-arounds?

G4 Sawtooth (with some OWC upgrades), Mac OS X (10.4.5), Have some Mac OS9 apps that I still need to use

There must be someone out there (Apple??) who has a fix or workaround for this.

To add to it, I also noticed that a similar thing was happening the other night, when I was trying to access these forum pages. Safari would simply highlight the http:// part of the URL, then sit there and do nothing. It would run off to other web-sites and URLs, including the 'top searches' and so on links from the main Suppprt page.

Using my work suplied laptop (Windows XP, IE6) however, I got in to the forums just fine. In my experience, it is not often one can claim that a PC behaved better than a MAC!

So I'm not nuts, at least not yet, but no solution thus far?
About 3 days ago my mpb suddenly lost the ability to upload images/documents via googlemail, this forum, etc. When i click on send (with an attachment) there is a brief flash in the titlebar and then nothing. as soon as i remove the attachment, it sends fine. Attempts with attachments on this forum result in an error message: [Safari can't open the page"http//macrumors.co...do=manageattach&p=".the error was:"POSIX error: Invalid arguement" (NSPOSIXErrorDomain:22) Please choose Report Bugs to Apple from the Safari menu....] Which I have done. Also reported issue to google. Of course, no reponse. In the meantime i have run the gamut of troubleshooting steps: Disk Utilities (permissions always fine); removed files from ~/library/input managers and restart; fsk- fy: applejack; i deleted the safari.plst, also:
com.apple.universalaccess
com.apple.apple.loginwindow
com.systemuniserver
and com.apple.hitoolbox
NADA!!! reinstalled safari w/updates; all have gone without a hitch , yet the problem persists.
This morning i created a new user and attachment went through, no problemo! However i'm stuck with this in my other account and am more than a little curious as to what is going on. No issues with downloads, or anything else for that matter Don't know where else to look. Any ideas???(need a better smilie for consternation)
Where to look in console. If all else fails how do i get the goods from my old account into my new account? root user?

hey,

Thanks for all the input but I tried to trash the cache, did that no worries but hotmail and gmail are still not letting me attach anything. Just seems to time out in fact.

Have you got any more solutions? Surely everyone else isn't having trouble making attachments to hotmail. What must I be doing wrong? Oh and it worked perfectly when I downloaded and installed firefox. Why would the Safari team not test for something like this?

hey track down that Hawaiian_Starman Guy! I did everything human possible and was completely flummoxed. Was on the verge of a complete re-install and getting no useful suggestions from other forum jurisdictions. And then along came the volcano/pieapple-esque-inspired demi-god, and in less than 2 minutes problems solved.props for his insight, again.
