DIRECTX 10?

If I buy those pc windows games that has directx 10 feature and run it on parallel or bootcamp on mcbooks or mcbooks pro will it work? I'm not even sure if the graphics cards on current mcbooks are directx 10 compatible. Are they also coming out with mac games that has directx 10 features?

custom, Windows Vista

Hi and welcome to Discussions,

at the moment only the new MacBook Pros with the Intel Santa Rosa chipset and the NVIDIA 8600M support DirectX 10.
All other Intel-Macs do 'only' support DirektX 9.

If and when the first Mac games conversion of DirektX 10 come out, can not be answered.
Given the fact that even on Windows there are only about a handful of real DX10 games out in the market, I would say at least 2008 before Mac versions are out.

Stefan

Oh cool, it's nice to know mcbook pros have graphics card that will support directx 10, the only thing is I'm contemplating on switching to mac but I can only afford a mcbook. If parallel can run directx 10 games w/ full directx 10 feature on a mac, that would definitely make me switch to mac and won't even mind buying mcbook pro instead of mcbook.

Hi,

I don't want to disappoint you, but for Parallels to fully support DX 10 on a Mac (any Mac !), the underlying graphics chip has to support DX 10.
There is no chance of a suitable software-only solution, since that would really 'destroy' decent frame-rates.

IMHO no MacBook in the near and not so near future will be capable of DX 10 in conjunction with decent frame-rates.
But I let surprise myself if so.

Sorry

Stefan
