This is just an advert that is paying for one or more of your favourite websites. Open Firefox > Firefox menu > Preferences... > Content tab > check "Block Popup Windows".
More generally; there are no OS X viruses, and all executable software (i.e. that which could potentially cause harm) has to installed by you entering the OS X Password. This means that harmful websites can't do this in the background like they can on a Windows PC. Do check that your OS X Firewall is enabled as this will prevent prying eyes. ( Apple menu > System Preferences... > Sharing > Firewall tab).
