scrolling text as laptop boots up

Hi all,

I sent my MacBook back to Apple to have it repaired (for another problem), and since it came back from Apple, it boots up in what a technician called 'verbose mode' (screens of scrolling text on a black screen).

Can I fix this myself?
Please help!
Thanks in advance.

The technicians probably set it to start in verbose mode every time your MB boots. To switch off verbose mode load up the Terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal) and type:

sudo nvram boot-args=

That should fix your problem.

Hi yello_cello,

try to reset your PRAM and SMC, and restart. if it still restart in verbose mode, check if the V key not accidently stuck.

Restart by pressing option/alt key and choose your HD to start up from your HD.

After that open system preference > start up and select your HD so it will start from there everytime you re-boot or restart.

Good Luck.
