Printing to network HP PSC 1210 All-in-one

Hello. I would greatly appreciate any help I could get with my dilemma.

I'm trying to print from my macbook to a network PC. I've set up the printer on my MacBook successfully and configured the printer on the PC so that it will allow sharing for the printer. When I print a document from my macbook, it is sent to the PC, but gets stopped there.

A box on the PC "Printers Folder" reports an error. It says "There was an error found when printing the document "Remote Downlevel Document" to USB001. Do you want to retry or cancel the job?

When I click "Retry" it just flashes the same box again. When I click "Cancel", the print job is removed from the PC's print job queue.

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Hi.

Did you enable Print Services for UNIX in your PC?

Good Luck.

HP's printer drivers for non-postscript printers are written to use USB only - you'll need to use a third-party driver like Gimp-Print - now called Gutenprint. Get the latest Gutenprint version here:

In addition to Henry's method, you can try this guide:

I did use the guide you provide when setting up. I haven't tried Gimp-Print. I'd just downloaded the driver from the HP website. I'll give that a try.

Also, I read on another forum to turn deselect "enable bidirectional support." After doing this, no error message is produced, the file shows up in the printer queue on the PC, it appears as if the print was successful, but nothing comes out of the printer.

I'll post back after looking into the Gutenprint.
