I could understand this error if the songs in question were purchased from the iTunes store, but the songs in question I ripped myself from CD's in MP3 format. I use a network and server to provide access to the music folder to my Mac Mini in my Home Theater, and this is where the error occurs. This just started happening recently, and I have no idea what changed.
Could it be because I upgrade the machine to OSX 10.4.10, but it was ripped in OSX 10.4.9? I know makes no sense, but just throwin that out there.

I had this problem too and this solved it:

1) login to your iTunes account (or create one if necessary, you don't need to buy anything)
2) authorize your computer (advanced menu)

I know it shouldn't be necessary because these are my own ripped songs, but it did the trick.
