Aperture and the new iPhoto 08 books???

It doesn't seem like you can order the new books introduced with iPhoto 08, that kinda su.ks! The 1.5.4 update does not add the new books which look way cool. This is really sad 😟

Aperture has not been around long enough to justify a 2.0 release (in my opinion at least). "Pro" software from Apple should have (because of it's costs) a lifespan a little longer than iLife...
I really hope they release what is needed in an update and not a new version of this very goo software.

Aperture 2.0 has to be released after Leopard (and they'd better work on that first), maybe around end 2008...

I contact Apple and was told "no comment" regarding the availability of the new photo books.

It strikes me odd that someone who buys a Mac today (which will come with the latest iPhoto) and a copy of Aperture, will not have access to the nice books even though they just spent all that money.

I personally will not be paying for a copy of iLife simply to I can give Apple more money by ordering their photo books. I'm simply going to look elsewhere to find who else prints nice photos books and give them my business. It's Apple's problem (and Apple's fault) that they won't let me order the nice photo books.

+"...not been around long enough..."+ Aperture 1.0 was released on the 19th of october 2005. That is nearly 2 years ago, so I would definetly say that its about time we see a new version. And the 1.5 version does not count since version 1.5 was a free update that Apple was forced to do, because of the obvious feature and performance lacks in the 1.0 version. The 1.0 version should have been like 1.5 stability and feature wise, but I think Apple hurried a launch of Aperture because of the Lightroom competition.

I too am building a book in Aperture with the custom layout functions. Has anyone out there tried exporting the pages you've designed in Aperture as PDF's, then converted the PDF's into TIFFs and then reloaded the TIFF's into iPhoto so you can order the nicer iPhoto book covers? I've completed the book in iPhoto with all of the pages I designed in Aperture, but before I hit "Buy Book" I was just wondering if anyone has seen how the finished product looks doing it this way? Seems like it should work just fine. Your thoughts please....

I was hoping that maybe with Leopard and 1.5.6 we would have the new books from Aperture... but guess what? no... we're just stuck with the same old books, while Mr and Mrs anybody with iLife '08 get the nice new ones...

Apple is really not helping us professionals keep up to date with our offer of products... I've written to Apple by posting feedback using the link in the Aperture feedback... maybe if we all send them this kind of message we might be heard?

Yep, I'm with you. I won't buy iLife 8 just to get what should be in Aperture now. Its a bit of a disappointment Apple! The team worked diligently to resolve the early issues, and now it seems that support has really lagged on this important feature. Aperture should contain the greatest amount of book making capability, not the least. It doesn't make sense, and the development team knows it.

I am a bit annoyed with Apertures Books, Apple do need desperately to update the Book Service in Aperture, I use it for wedding books, and it does look bad on me, if a cheaper product provides more options for the customer.

If Apple dont want to update Aperture yet then please provide a way yo get the books out of Aperture and into iphoto!

I dont usually have a moan about Aperture, but this is a bit of a let down.

I too would like to see update for books, etc ... especially having book jacket feature ...
It is however my understanding that these books (iMovie, Aperture) are ultimately sent to and printed by Kodak .... not Apple.
In fact, I recall that somewhere I have read that all such books, regardless who offers this service, are printed via Kodak ...
Anyone have different info?

So you think Asuka and the other direct digital to book outfits are all sent to Kodak? That's pretty interesting. I didn't get that sense from Asuka. Do you recall where you read that? I'm a little skeptical because some of the companies like Asuka (the only one I can remember) have very specific layouts and people talk about quality differences in printing and in the covers, etc. Still, very interesting.
