Aperture and the new iPhoto 08 books???

It doesn't seem like you can order the new books introduced with iPhoto 08, that kinda su.ks! The 1.5.4 update does not add the new books which look way cool. This is really sad 😟

I could be wrong, but I don't see the new books inside Aperture. I believe the update was only for interaction with the media browser and all the new iLife apps like the AMAZING new iMovie. Seriously for photographers the new iMovie is the bomb.

Back to the subject. There is nothing wrong with Exporting JPEGS after using Aperture to convert the RAWs and making a book. Yep it's an extra step, but give em some time to move over some of the new iPhoto fun to Aperture. Perhaps this is something they have planned for 2.0. And by the looks of the new iLife/Final Cut Studio I can't wait to see what they have planned for Aperture.

Hu? I don't know what to say to that.

It works! To answer your original question. under the file menu in the new iPhoto you can access your Aperture files! JOY just drag them into the book icon and it will import the photo and add it to your book project. It would be nice if it didn't take the extra step, but I have the feeling as I said in the above post that the new books not being in aperture is temporary.

I too wanted to use the new book template from iphoto 08... But I can't get this accomplished... There should be an easy way to import / export (depending on which program) to use the new book templates from iphoto 08 into Aperture. This release of iphoto 08 without acknowleging us Aperture users is in my view a horrible mistake and the Apple executives should be embarrassed.

Yep, I sent in a request. But frankly, I would be very surprised if these features aren't in the next update or upgrade. Generally, these technologies seem to leap frog each other. Like for instance the digital cameras. You'll have a top end pro Canon or Nikon and a year goes buy and a prosumer version has features the pro camera doesn't. I'm pretty sure we'll see these features sooner or later.

But I do agree w/general premise that the pro app shouldn't be behind the consumer version.

I want to use Aperture for book making because it has custom layout options that are not and, I believe, never will be in the consumer iPhoto.

The hard cover for Aperture, however, with a photo pasted on the front is anything but professional. The book cover sleeve needs to be an option for Aperture. If Aperture 2.0 is not right around the corner, (September 5th?) then Apple NEEDS to come out with Aperture 1.5.5, soon!

I have iLife 08 and can tell you that owning it doesn't change the available templates in Aperture. I use Aperture for my photos, but rely on the rest of iLife for my website, my movies and so on.

I hope an update of Aperture is in the works with: new templates for books, Canon EOS 40D RAW image support, and better communication between the software and iWeb.

But, as said, I can confirm that iLife 08 doesn't change anything in Aperture's availability of templates.
