New iMac condensation inside screen glass

I hooked up my new 24" aluminum iMac and after about an hour of using it, a 1" x 3" strip of condensation gradually appeared in the lower right portion of the screen behind the glass. Anyone else see this?

yes the glass is held by magnetic, confirmed by some web sites i read before.

i guess the space between the glass plate and lcd can not be vacuum, the lcd simply can't stand it. try press a lcd screen with your finger, and imagine the vacuum condition do the same in opposite direction, just in much greater force and area

and, as some people got their iMac replaced and the problem gone. may be apple had already aware it and have a fix for it? i'm getting a new iMac in coming few days and hope i will get those improved model!

I was just about to purchase a new iMac. However when I read the article on CNET about the freezing system and now the condensation, I am really having second thoughts. I spoke with technical support somebody called Chris. He bluntly denied any condensation issues. I told him about this thread and also CNET, he just dismissed it, as well as the bug causing the system to crash when using very demanding video application. THIS GUY DISMISSED THEM BOTH. I guess APPLE is playing with fire. If their quality goes down and people start to complain about hardware quality right out of the box, they are in trouble. I bought my FIRST apple IN 1981. Never have taken any of my MACS to service EVER. I do not want to start now, after supporting APPLE even during their worst years.

I've had the same issue with the 24" aluminum iMac. I started to get it in the top left corner after a week or so. I took it back to my local Apple store and they ha d never seen this. They exchanged it with no problems but now the new one I got 2 weeks ago is doing the same **** thing. I am really disappointed with this serious flaw, especially after never having a single problem with my first gen imac G5 I recently sold.

I've had this issue with a 24'' iMac bought from John Lewis.

I took it back and received a replacement from another store with no hassle from JL. This time i left the computer sitting unpacked in my study for two days before turning it on. Happened again.

Am now on my third mac, from a new batch delivered from apple (not with Leopard yet! grr) typing this right now after powering on 20 mins ago. Am off to make a cup of tea. Fingers crossed!

I finish buying iMac 24"to 2.8 Ghz Intel the 2 Cores Duo Extreme and a zone of condensation has taken place to the few minutes of use in the right inferior corner like which it has commented in the forum.
Tomorrow I will give back it, I hope not to return to such have problems with new iMAC.
I wait for a fast answer on the part of Apple to this problem.

Im new to this forum but have gotten many great solutions here. Here is my solution to this problem. I just pulled the glass off the front of my imac with the same problem. I used a suction cup from my radar detector. Worked like a champ. Cleaned the inside (back) of the glass and put it back on. Took 90 seconds. Im sure apple doesnt want you doing this yourself, but it is easy!!! Dont spray liquid cleaner or smoke near these things either. Hope this helps anyone with this problem. The glass is held on by about 8 magnetic pins. You will see. Lay the machine flat first and just pull it off with a suction cup....Dont pry it with anything....Get a suction cup.

Ok I am now on my 3rd IMac as of today. I again contacted applecare as my 2 week old replacement IMac has built up enough condensation to be extremely noticeable again. Same area as the last, the top left going towards the center. Again after speaking with applecare for the third time on this subject, they bluntly denied that they have ever heard of this issue. I continued to point them in the direction of this discussion but all 3 reps continually ignored what I had to say and just finally made me an appointment at my local Apple store.

When I went to the store today to get my 3rd(and final)replacement I check out all the display IMacs by putting them in sleep mode and looking for the same issue. Sure enough there were two in there with the same issue just not as severe yet. A thin strip on condensation had built up on the left side of the screen of both of these computers. When they finally called me up for service I had to explain the whole scenario again. They said they had never heard of this and it coincidentaly happened to be the same person that exchanged my last one with condensation. After the drawn out process and all the B.S I showed them the display models that had the same issue. The manager was quick to get someone to replace them on the floor.

I am really, really disapointed in Apple with this whole situation. I have given them thousands of dollars over the past 10 years and they stick me with this lackluster product. I mean whats the big deal with at least getting on this forum and confirming that there is an issue and they are working on it. Give us atleast some kind of hope for the couple grand we dropped buying this **** water magnet.

Bought a 24" iMac today, a small amount of condensation appeared not immediately but when I inserted the Leopard install DVD leading me to believe maybe the DVD drive fan maybe is the cause. Haven't tested for freezes yet but will be monitoring my iMac closely in case I need to return for refund 😟 Will let you know how things progress.

have seen somebody disappointed by apple releasing poor quality product, i just want to say i do appreciated that apple always bold to explore completely new design. i mean things that no other had done before, and apple always take the risk that unexpected things happen. no experiments and testes in lab can reproduce all the situation that end users may experience, before a product is released.
