Sirius radio streaming on Iphone

Hi-
I have a Sirius account and I can log into the internet from my home PC and I get live streaming music. When I log into my account from my Iphone I can see that the music appears to be playing but I hear no sound. Is this a Flash application? I know that the phone does not support that yet and I'm sure that Sirius wants to keep selling there Stilleto player. Any help would be great!!

You can not listen to anything that uses Clearstream on smartphones, including your iPhone. There is a WM5 workaround that works on other smartphones.

There is a similar work around for the iPhone, but it involves signing up for an account through a different website that then converts the signal for you from Sirius.

Here is how to do it: http://howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1206351&page=1&pp=15

Note that it is a HUGE workaround that requires some effort to get to work. It's not a hack - but it requires rerouting the signal through several servers to rewrite the sound code to listen to from an alternate web site.

For what it's worth... I actually use Audio HiJack Pro to record Stern every day to my iMac. I can then access my Mac over the Internet and access my entire Stern archive using Safari via. my OS X web sharing. I have even used Edge to do this, it works great. You can even pause the playback, leave Safari and go back and pick up where you left off. If the phone rings, it pauses the playback automatically (however unlink the iPod functionality, you have to manually click play to resume where it left off).

Probably not what you were looking for, but thought it might be of interest.

This is amazing! I just set this up per instructions at Howard Forums, using my Mac and Parallels. Setup was actually very straightforward. It worked immediately, and I'm able to stream Sirius (and other) radio stations now on the Iphone- fabulous.

The only issue is that it requires that Parallels and the Mac remain running and connected. I use a laptop, and so if traveling with the laptop, it won't work. But in the meantime, until something better comes along, at least it's great to see that streaming is possible with the iphone...

Well, XM and Sirius are competitors to iPod's (let's just call the iPhone an iPod for now). Besides, and I'm a loyal XM subscriber (I won't buy a new car without XM), I never listen to music from XM. I can't stand the 64kbps (or less) bit rate. My iPod only carries Lossless music, because I demand high quality.

Now, if I can get MLB, NHL and ESPN Radio streamed to my iPhone, I might actually think I've found the perfect device.

Orange, I'm with you -- find a way to stream MLB.com and I will be a happy man...

As to XM and SIRIUS, it's not THEIR issue...there is NO streaming available on the iPhone through the internet at this point - that's an Apple decision with Safari, not XM or SIRIUS or any other streaming radio station's issue.

There are a few sites (like the one linked to above) that have changed their streams to work on any phone or computer not requiring flash, javacode, or Streamclear, but those are few and far between.
