Answer phone, hear echo of self - cannot hear caller

In two months, I've had one call that started off with myself echoing, and it went away after a few seconds.

I'm sure this is a network issue, and as we all know, the network can vary from time to time and place to place. If it doesn't go away, try calling AT&T to make sure all of your network settings are correct, and to be sure that you received all current over-air updates for your device. You'd be amazed at how "squirrely" your phone can act if it's not up-to-date with over-air updates from service provider.

This happened to me once, just hung up, called back and everything was good. Cell phones are just squirrelly sometimes

All I meant was sometimes weird stuff happens. Cell phones are strange little devices. Did the reset help?

Occasionally I'll hear myself echo, but I've not had anyone that I've been talking to mention that they hear an echo. I've noticed that it's happened a lot when when I've called the Apple Store in Jacksonville, FL so I think it may be a network thing in this case.

Well, this happens on almost every cell phone I have had over the years, and in most cases it a service issue. I had a several Nokia that had this problems along with Motorola..

Had something similar to this happen just yesterday.

I kept hearing the echo but the individual that I called said his reception was fine. Told him to hang up and I would call back.

When I called back, echo was still there but again, he could not hear it.

Today, I am not experiencing an echo on the calls that I originate.

Somebody once told me this is a phenomena that occurs when you get connected to two towers but I cannot confirm that one way or the other.

Normally hanging up and calling back does eliminate the problem but this time it did not work.

I definitely have gotten an echo of myself speaking. It is not all the time, but it has happened to me 15-20 time.

Try plugging in your headset, making a call, then unplugging, and making a normal call.

I lost all sound at one point, and no amount of restoring or tech support would bring it back. On a whim, I made a call with the headset, and it worked perfectly. I unplugged the headset and the phone was working fine again.

The same thing happened to me when I was listening to the iPod via a cassette adaptor in the car then a call came in. The caller's voice was redirected appropriately to the car speaker. But when I unplugged the car adaptor from the iphons iit didn't reactivate the earpiece and I couldn't hear the caller although the caller continued to hear me ok. This was fixed after I used the headset that came with iPhone. After unplugging the headset, the earpiece started working again. I submitted a bug report to Apple.
