CNAME

I also have no ability to edit a cname record. All I can change are the name servers. I ran a WhoIs on web.mac.com and the name servers came up as nserver.apple.com, nserver2.apple.com, etc. I entered these, so we'll see what happens.

I have had my domain name (from go daddy) forwarded to my long .mac website address for some time now prior to this update. What the update is supposed to offer is actually replacing that long website name with your actual domain name. So people won't see .mac/iweb/blah...blah....blah. Instead just your domain name; how a site should be. That is why you have to create an alias for that through your registrar. I was not able to find anything on go daddy's site, but I'll let you know when they return my e-mail. Forwarding your domain is a good alternative though. That way you can have a short real domain name on buiness cards, etc. but when it is entered into a browser, it simply loads that other long site name.

Just do a Google search for "GoDaddy CNAME". You find a great instructional example complete with screenshots. With the example, it took about 2 minutes to implement the CNAME for my GoDaddy registered domain name.

LARRY, DID YOU RESOLVE THIS CNAME ISSUE? I AM ASSUMING YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR HOSTING SOME WHERE WITH YOUR DOMAIN NAME? I REGISTERED MY NAME WITH ALLWEBCO AND THEY WILL NOT HELP UNLESS I PAY FOR HOSTING.
IS THERE A WAY AROUND THIS?

when i set the cname with the hosting company do they need cname.web.mac.com or just web.mac.com?
