POP MAIL STOPPED WORKING - server doesn't support X-APOP?

All of a sudden I am getting an error for my POP mail that says the POP server does not support "X-APOP authentication". I didn't change any settings and I haven't been able to receive any of my POP mail since Sunday. Any ideas?

MacBook Pro 2.0 256MB X1600 and 2048mb ram, Powermac G4 733, Mac OS X (10.4.10), Athlon 800 PC

It's our private server for our domain. It's my work e-mail address that is hosted on web.com's servers.

Looks like I fixed it. I deleted the account from my iPhone and readded it. It's working (for now.)

Another example of mail account "corruption" of some kind. I keep reading more and more posts about this. I hope Apple it taking notes.... 😀

This error is likely due to a change in the authentication settings in the affected email account. Try this:

Click Settings
Click Mail
Click the affected account
Click Advanced
Look at Authentication - it should be PASSWORD. If it's MD5, change it to PASSWORD.
Use the dark blue icon at the top to go back twice after you changed it back to PASSWORD.
Hit home and check your mail - should work fine now.
