DVI-I dual link to HDMI Sony Wega 23" LCD/TV?

Can I hook up my Sony Wega LCD/TV (KLV-S23A10) with an HDMI port to my Power Mac G5 1.6 GHZ DVI-I dual link port by an HDMI to DVI cable? Is DVI-I to VGA (HD-15) really the only way to do it?

Thanks!

Power Mac G5 1.6 GHZ, Mac OS X (10.4.9), 2.5 GB RAM

I have a Mac Mini G4 connected to a Samsung HPS4273 42" Plasma HDTV. Originally I used a DVI to HDMI dongle, and then an HDMI/HDMI cable to connect to the display. Worked fine, but I found that I was unable to set a specific display resolution to work "just right". Either the generated image was larger than could fit on the display and cut of things like the menu bar at the top, or the image was smaller and left a black band around it. I settled on a smaller display resolution with just a bit of wasted space.

For other reasons, I recently tried using a DVI-VGA dongle and then a VGA/VGA cable to connect to the display. And the TV was then able to detect the resolution and fill the entire screen. Looks wonderful. So I'm sticking with that. In theory the analog signal would be lower quality but I can see no difference.

Note that the HDMI connection is able to also carry digital audio info, but the dongle I have (from Monster Cable I believe) has no provision for this, as I would expect - where to get the signal? So I had to have a separate 1/8" stereo cable to bring audio to the display. My TV has one HDMI input port which also allows a separate 1/8" audio input. If you plan on HDMI and want audio as well, you should check this.
