little red circle on the dock icon

when you get new mail, Mail icon in the dock shows you the number of new messages.

I've got the same thing on the iCal icon. Where is this new meeting invite (I assume that's what it is) and how do I 'mark it as read'?

Is there any way to assign incoming invitations to one of my calendars. software says these items are read only, so I can't change anything.

when I get a cal invite in Mail, if I right click to Add to iCal, nothing happens. However, if I save the ics file and then do an import from iCal, I can get it in there, and I get to assign the calendar.

Any ideas?

To see the notifications list, click on the icon with a downward arrow on the lower left of iCal's main window. From here select an invite to view the options in the info pane. Invtes are only editable by the original creator. if you want to change one you should contact them (otherwise two people could make incompatable changes).

If you want editable versions of invites you are sent, you can just drag them from Mail into iCal's window without saving to file.

Best wishes
