State Farm Insurance?

I saw on the internet that State Farm was selling insurance for the iPhone for 32$ a year with no deductible so to get my iPhone insured do I just call State Farm and ask to get my Iphone insured? Also does anyone else have it, if so how is it?

Thanks,
Mackenzie

I would shop around. It sounds to me like State Farm is just trying to maximize profits on a new trend. I have a $30K renters policy that also covers computers, cameras and other electronics anywhere I go and it's only $120 a year. Why would I pay 1/4 that premium or more to ONLY cover my phone? There are better deals to be had if you shop a little.

Almost all the home owners insurance will add it as a personal rider. My Nationwide added it for 14.00 for the year (basically just an administrative charge) in addition to the computers and cameras I insure through them (and my house and car of course).

There are some third party insurers - do a search of this forum for iPhone Insurance and you will find several names of companies.

I'd check with a local State Farm agent. I have my auto & home insurance with another company, but they were able to sell me a "personal articles policy" which covers the iPhone and other pda devices. The price here in WA was $6.50 per $100 of coverage with zero deductable. Since I've got 2 iPhones (one for me and wife) the coverage ran me approx $86 for the year to cover both. Since I was paying $5.99 per month with Verizon for phone insurance which had a $50 deductable, I figure it was a pretty good deal.

Hope this helps.

I am in Georgia and I can't get my State Farm agent to insure my iPhone. They have been giving me the runaround for 3 weeks and finally told me to call the regional office and complain to them as to why they won't insure my phone. I have 2 houses, three cars, and thousands of $$$'s of personal items insured through them. This is very frustrating. Anyone in GA have an iPhone insured through State Farm?

I am also a State Farm customer with Homeowners Insurance (for over 10 years, never submitted a claim) with a Personal Article Policy added for two iPhones and they sent me a Cancellation Notice in the mail today, effective August 30, 2007. Reason given: “We no longer insure cell phones or PDA’s or portable music devices”. I tried to explain to the agent that my iPhone was a “cell phone AND a pda AND a music device”, all in one device, but she didn’t seem to “get it” either!

It fits one of those descriptors, therefore it doesn't matter what it is, it won;t be covered.

We were able to get a personal articles policy with State Farm here in Florida that covered both our iPhones with a $0 deductible for $92 a year. We have NO other coverage with State Farm. We had to call a couple State Farm agencies before we got one that knew what we and they were talking about and were willing to write the policy. But call around. You'll find one.
