iphone screen issues

has anyone had any problems with making phone calls then turning screen towards you to put on speaker or mute, and the screen is just dark and unresponsive. The only way to bring it back up is hit the on/off button on top. By this point your call has hung up.

Nope.

Try the standard troubleshooting procedures - reset and if no change, try a full restore and if no change after that, call AppleCare.

When I am on a call and I bring the iPhone to my ear, the screen goes black. That is the proper operation of the iPhone. When I take the iPhone away from my face, the iPhone is supposed to detect that and turn the screen back on.

Are you saying your screen is not coming back on at all?

Try resetting your iPhone, or if not, restoring it. If that continues to happen, it may be time to contact Apple.
