iCal and iPhone will not synch

I have been trying the various solutions posted elsewhere, but every time I try to sync my iCal calendar with my iPhone, I get a message that my iPhone has disconnected. I hope Apple will surprise me with a fix soon, because this basic feature should not be a problem.

Sorry, I had not kept my profile up to date. I am using 10.4.10. And yes, I have read the other messages on this topic and have tried them but to no avail. I think it reflects poorly on Apple that one of the most basic iPhone functions that involves an Apple software requires users to jump through hoops to get it to work, which I have not been able to do yet.

Hmm...sorry to hear you are having the sync problem, but that is NOT something most people are having problems with so I don't expect them to "fix" anything.

Have you called Customer Support to have them trouble shoot with you? This sounds like some kind of a software conflict -- pretty much one of the things that consistently works for people with macs and the iPhone is the sync stuff...

Are you syncing anything else to iCal that could be interfering? (I.e. another Palm, or smartphone for example?) Is anyone else? Is anything else using Sync Services on your mac? Are you directly using iTunes and not a third-party iTunes substitute? You don't have any hacks on your phone do you? Are you syncing anything on your iphone through safari to any calendars? (I'm not saying any of these are the cause, I am just throwing ideas out).

I am not sure we can trouble shoot this here much further without your direct contact with Technical Support to see what might be holding up that sync process. Make sure you are in front of your computer with your iPhone available and call from a different phone.

Michael-
I was having the same problem. At one point, got them to sync, but they would sync back to some previous incarnation of my calendar.

Fixed it by resetting my iPhone, deleting iCal from my iMac (after saving data, of course) and reinstalling, then, sadly, redesignating every single event into one category. I figure since there seems to be no way to assign categories to events on the iPhone, it might have screwed up the sync process.

Hope this helps.
