How can I change my caller ID?

i work for at&t, and you have to actually change it through us. just call customer care by calling 611 and we can shorten your name in our system and have tech update your caller id info in the system.

if you are calling another cell phone, the caller id is going to show you as what ever they have you in their address book as. for example if your number is 123-456-7890 and they have that number in their address book as "Ana", then when you call their phone, "Ana" will show up. does this help?

Absolutely correct but in my case I did not have a family plan on this number. Use it for business as well.

By the way, how come you changed your Avatar ID?

If the person you are calling doesn't already have you as a contact, they may get some information from your cellular carrier. In this case AT&T.

I would suggest contacting AT&T to adjust what is being sent when you call from your number.

I also suggest calling AT&T on this.

If you log onto the AT&T website, you can edit your profile and give you and your family members the names you want. Unfortunately, this seems to apply only to the website (billing tabs), and it does not alter the caller ID. To do that you must call AT&T.

I recently changed my caller ID by contacting AT&T and told them that I wanted to use the Alias first name that everybody knew me as rather than my given name.

They asked a few questions and told me that it would take a day or two. The reason is that there is a National Caller ID registry that is kept among all of the phone companies and all of the participating companies need to effect the change. Big brother is watching but if there is nothing to be worried about who cares.

In two days my Caller ID had been changed and everybody now sees my known Alias rather than that given name.

There are no other ways to change the Caller ID since it is kept by the Phone Company, i.e., AT&T, centrally and it is not in your iPhone.

By the way, my bill came with my given name and not my Alias.

or through their website you can also select that caller ID for home phones only says "Wireless caller" this is the best solution for family plans

you can do that on AT&T's site also

as I changed my family plan back to a business name... haha
