How to remove a sound device from the list

Hello All,
I had ran a beta version of a audio editing program on my intel Mac and it left a sound device in the list as an input or output device. There is no uninstall program on the computer to remove the program. It's all in one package that can be put in the trash.
But the sound device wont let AU select an input device. This is an Apple Development tool. All the other sound programs see the Microphone and line in but AU only sees this other device. Where is the list of sound devices so that I can remove it from the list?
If this is not the correct place to ask this question, please let me know where I can post it.

Thanks,

Dave

Hello Scott,
I did post a question but for some reason it didn't post. What I typed was removed for some reason. So I'm trying again. I'll keep trying until it posts. I had installed a 3rd party sound editor program which added a sound device to the list with Mic and line in. It's also in the output list. All I need to do is remove the device and then AU will allow me to select line in as an input device. Right now AU is confused by the extra device and wont let me select an input device. AU is a developer app. But that's not the problem. The problem is removing the device from the list of sound devices.
If someone knows where this device might be and how to remove it, please let me know.

Thanks,

Dave

I see how this works. It's not allowing any carriage returns. If one is typed everything after the carriage return is deleted. Anyway, I had installed a 3rd party sound editor program and it added a device to the sound device list. So now one of the Apple Applications cannot find line in because that extra device is there. The Apple app is called AU but that's not the problem. The problem is removing that extra sound device from both the input and output list. If anyone knows, please help, Thanks, Dave Sorry about all the extra posts because this form has a bug.

Hello All, I found the answer here:http://developer.apple.com/qa/qa2007/qa1526.html When I went into audio/Midi setup and followed the directions and opened the Aggregate device editor, I found that nasty device and clicked on the - button to remove it. It's completely gone. Then I still had to add an Aggregate Device. I added one that includes both mic and line in. Maybe I was supposed to make one for the mic and one for the line in. I'm still not sure how it works. I'll have to experiment with adding aggregate devices. Thanks again, Dave
