iMovie 08 will grow on most
I don't see how this can happen, most users I know have gone back to iMovie 06. I use both iMovie 06 and iMovie 08. The more I use iMovie 08, the more I discover that iMovie 06 is vastly superior for most jobs I do.
(if it were possible that your libraries of themes, titles, transitions and effects could be magically imported into im08, would you not see im08 in a different light)
Well sure. Add, a Timeline, Chapter Markers for a DVD, Share to iDVD, plug-in support, Save Frame, audio on import, editing to the exact frame and it would be a joy to learn a completely new application. (and yes I know iMovie 08 can do some of the above but with much more difficulty than iMovie 06.)
It seems to me that it would be a whole lot easier to add some of the good features of iMovie 08 to iMovie 06 than the other way around.
Fortunately Apple lets us use both versions, and the choice of which program to use is usually a simple one.
If I want to make a DVD of my movie I use iMovie 06. For sharing on the Internet I use iMovie 08. Of course the difficulty here is that I have to learn 2 programs.
Some of my Windows friends use Pinnacle Studio, it's like iMovie 06, iMovie 08 and iDVD 08 in one simple application. (Bootcamp anyone.)
I'm confident that we are just going over a bump in the road and in the near future the fans of iMovie 06 and iMovie 08 will be using the same program.
