Cannot read iTunesCOM.chm from iTunes COM for Windows SDK

I've downloaded the iTunes COM for Windows SDK (http://developer.apple.com/sdk/itunescomsdk.html) but have problems with the iTunesCOM.chm file. It opens Windows Help, which then shows the contects tree, but when you try to view anything it says "This program cannot display the webpage". Any suggestions?

iTunes 7.3.2.6, Help v5.2, IE v7.0, Windows XP Pro

Hmm. I downloaded the ZIP file today and tried invoking the CHM file (dated 3/2/07) from within the ZIP and saving it separately, as well, with the same results as outlined above.

I've tried this on five PCs (one Vista Ultimate, two XP Pro, one XP Home, one Windows Server 2003 R2, Standard x64), all with the same result. They're very similar in regardings to having latest OS updates and IE7.

What version of IE are you running? When you get the help program up, when you click on "About HTML Help..." what version number do you get?

I ask about what version of IE, as I believe that the HTML Help application uses an IE HTML control to actually show the content of the CHM file, and I wondered if this control in the Help application was IE-version specific. I'm just brainstorming on what the possible difference b/w my fairly clean installations on five machines and the rest of the world. But in answer to your question, yes, I can open other CHM files just fine.

When I open this CHM file, the Microsoft HTML Help Executable fires up and the "contents" pane on the left looks fine with the iTunes COM table of contents visible. But the pane on the right, the actual HTML content, I see a error screen (not at all like a "help" file, but rather virtually identical to those you see in IE when you have some error pulling up a web page) that says either "Navigation to the webpage was canceled" (when you first fire up the CHM file) or "The address is not valid" (if you try to navigate to any page within the CHM file).

This is very weird, as I've got five different machines, fairly clean installations, with all of the latest software. I just don't get it.

The Windows help interface looks more like IE6 to me than 7.

I can't reproduce your problem here, I tried blocking it in my firewall, but that did nothing. It is a real puzzle that several computers have the same problem are they all together on the same network?

Maybe someone else will chip in.
I am afraid I am at a loss on this one.
