IDVD slideshow freezes every three slides when played on DVD player

Hi guys!

IDVD slideshow freezes/stops playing the slideshow every three slides when I play it on my DVD player. It will continue playing but I have to manually skip forward to the next slide. The slide show will then freeze/stops on the same three slide cycle.

What's up? I'm thinking it could be my DVD player. But then something makes me wonder if it's a bug in the system????

I have it on High quality burn - no luck
i've also attempted to burn it through Disk Utility at 2X burn speed speed - no luck.

Is this just a case of it not working on my DVD player?
Dudes, then what's the point of calling it IDVD if it doesn't play on a DVD player???

P.s. Apple support center can be real nasty about helping yeah?!? anyone else think so? I think their technical assistance vs. trouble shooting/tutorial philosophy is ever so arbitrary. It’s kind of dissipointing that the people on the other end of the line aren’t that cute and friendly mac guy on the commercials - more like mean and dull peeps if you ask me.

My suggestion is to post here prior to seeking support from apple directly. Many times they'll ask if you attempted to resolve or seek support this way prior to assisting further.

I have a question. Did you by any chance accidentally set the slideshow to advance manually?

-----------------------------------
Here's what the iDVD Help Menu says about this procedure:

Setting slideshows to advance manually
Slideshows in iDVD advance to the next slide automatically, with each picture remaining on the screen for 3 seconds. If your slideshow doesn't have a soundtrack, you can set it to advance manually. Viewers can then click the Next or Forward button on the DVD remote control to advance to the next slide at their own pace.
To set a slideshow to advance manually:
Double-click the button for your slideshow in the DVD menu to open the slideshow editor.
Choose Manual from the Slide Duration pop-up menu.
Click Settings and select "Display navigation arrows" if you want to display right and left arrows on the screen as a visual reminder to the viewer to click the Next button on the remote control to advance to the next slide.
When you are finished, click the Return button to exit the slideshow editor.

Hey thanks for the response!

I kind of fixed the problem before I got your post.

My dvd slideshow was stopping every third slide when played on my cd player, the music and the slide would just stop, the DVD would not “freeze/crash” but I’d have to manually put them on to the next slide, the music would sound annoying and the overall experience was just annoying so...

My solution: I noticed the problem was in the “fade out” transition from one photo to another when it played on my home TV/DVD player. It was in the middle of the fade that my DVD player would “freak out.”

I re-burned the DVD on high quality, except this time I did not select any fancy transitioning in-between the slides (i.e. page flip, fade to black, mosaic etc). I selected no transition. And it worked! The DVD plays fine on my DVD player. Success!
