For a year or more the narrow trim above the latch release on my G4 Powerbook has buckled outwards. Does not affect function but is unsightly and I can see no cause of it. Is this fixable? More importantly, the Powerbook, inside a neoprene protective cover and inside a carry bag dropped from a coat hook. Since then the cover needs to be prised over slightly laterally to engage the latch when closing and the machine does not sit flat..there is a slight "rock" on its supports. The amount of lateral movement needed to latch the case is not visible. This doesnt feel right and I am worried the prising will further distort the case. Are there adjustments that can be made to get it back square and fitting nicely?
If the unit is covered by Apple care you probably could have got the buckling issue dealt with when you first noticed it. Now that it has been dropped I doubt Applecare will cover it. The fix probably will entail a new case.
