My iPhone came with a chip in the screen.

I bought my iPhone on Friday the 17th of August. The glass near the ear audio slot was chipped and a piece of glass was missing. Now it is Monday, and I have an appointment with the Geniuses at the Towson Apple store tomorrow.

As it stands, the chip has started to ge worse since I bought the phone. I now have spider cracks across my screen. Pieces of glass are ready to fall out. My screen is distorted and hard to see through.

Now, when I go to my Genius appointment, do you think they will hassle me? I didn't do anything to encourage the deterioration of the product. Believe me, I would have brough it in sooner, but I had no way of getting to Towson.

It is still within the 14 days, so I doubt they will give me any problems. But there is still a part of me that is a bit nervous that they will try to pin it on me, and refuse to replace. But then again, it shouldn't have had any defects when I bought it.

Since you are in your 14 day warranty period you should not be refused an exchange.

If it bothers you that much, and it would bother me, and the cost to repair exceeds the 10% restocking charge, give the phone back, forfeit you 10% and then buy a new phone.

or...

Wait till that geneous gets off, go up to the counter, skip the genious and tell them it is within your 14 days.

I would find it unusual if you do not get an exchange at the store or through AppleCare.

Call the store back and tell them that you need a loaner phone because of your business requirements on travel.

You really should go to the store, if it is not too far from your home, and look them in the eye. It is easy for the store to say no, when they do not have to face you. Ask to talk to the Manager face to face.

Alright, I plan on going there with all my iPhone stuff. I am going to take the box, cables, dock, everything. I am just going to say, my screen came defective and it is falling apart to boot. I want to exchange my phone, keep my sim card, and be on my way. Do you think that will go over well?

PS: I will be very polite during the whole ordeal.
Bad part is, i'm only 16 years old, so I doubt this'll go over well.

I take immaculate care of of all my higher-end electronics, and this is just one I got unlucky with a defective unit.
