Anyone know if 'PrevSheet' or similar can be used in a formula?

Hi,

New to numbers and spreadsheets in general.

I did dabble a few years back in Excel for home use, i.e. creating a monthly budget and spending file, and wish to do the same in Numbers.

I've created a master sheet which ideally I will use for each new month, however to allow the new sheet to pull in the rolling balance from the previous month I need to reference the same field on the previous sheet. I know this can be done in a formula if I actually name the sheet to be referenced, but I would have to edit the formula every time I created a new sheet.

I know in Excel you used to be able to use 'PrevSheet' or similar, to simply reference a particular cell on the sheet before, but I can't seem to get that to work in Numbers or find any reference to it.

Any help appreciated.

WWJD,

Thanks for the advice, but that's not quite what I was after, perhaps I didn't explain myself too well...

I understand that you can do what you've suggested, but I would like the formula you've exampled to simply look at whichever sheet was before it, not by name, i.e. 'Sheet 26' before 'Sheet 27', but just to look at the same cell in the sheet before.

I did do this once many moons back in Excel the last time I played with spreadsheets, and would have done, '=PrevSheet (C4)' for example, therefore not having to change the formula on every sheet.

Hope that's a little more clearer.

Thanks again.
