Just to throw this out there

Wouldn't it be great if Apple put in blu ray players into these iMac's and other great Apple products? I'm a huge blu ray guy and I do love Macs and to combine the both would be awesome! Especially considering that Apple does use top of the line displays on their units. With the 24 inch iMac you could easily watch in 1080p.

Just one mans opinion and wanted it to be heard somewhere. =]

Unfortunately a blu-ray drive would add $500US or so to the price.

If you don't want to wait for Apple to offer a Blu-Ray drive, you may want to look into this:

I just found out Panasonic makes a slim drive blu ray disc player/burner. Looks great but costs a fortune just like that LaCie drive. And you're going to have to crack open your iMac in order to install it which probably voids the warranty. They said it fits into Apple laptops and im assuming that the iMac uses the same sort of drive, correct me if im wrong. Seems great though and I think I will go ahead and leave some feedback with Apple about blu ray support.

Blu ray drives are to expensive-wait another year or so until the price comes down.

On the contrary, Blu-ray drives have been drastically reduced due to improvements in manufacturing of the laser diode.

Expect to see Macs with Blu-ray drives next, Pro series first. Sony laptops are already available with Blu-ray drives.
