Logic Pro -> Logic Express as an AU or EXS host

Hi guys,

So I have two Mac Minis connected to M-Audio FW410's that I use as samplers. I've been using RAX2 to host AU's in the Minis, but I want to try something new.

I've installed Logic Express on the two Minis, and loaded my EXS library into the Minis. In Logic Express I've created 16 Audio Instrument tracks, and loaded EXS on each one, with various instruments. Audio Instrument 1 has been assigned to midi channel 1, and so on down the list through 16. I have a midi cable plugged into the midi in on the FW410, coming from the unitor8 that is connected to my G5.

Created an OMS Multi Instrument in the environment in Logic Pro on the G5. Sending midi out of the unitor8 to the Mini's 410.

So here's the problem. I can't get Logic Express to play each individual instrument as I select them in Logic Pro on the G5. It only plays the instrument which is selected in the Arrange in Logic Express on the Mini.

To further explain: Sub Channel 3 of the Mac Minis Multi Instrument in Logic Pro on the G5 is selected. I start playing notes. On the Mac Mini side of things, Audio Instrument ONE is selected in the arrange in Logic Express, and that is the instrument that gets played, NOT instrument 3 (like is selected in Logic Pro on the G5 side). If I select another Audio Instrument in Logic Express on the Mini, but don't change to a new sub channel on the G5, keep playing, then THAT is now the instrument that gets played out of the Mini.

How do I get Logic Express to read 16 independent channels coming from Logic Pro and the Unitor8 on the G5, and play all 16 instruments in Logic Express on the Mini as they are selected on the G5? Is this possible, or can I not use Logic Express as an AU host (or EXS host as it were)? I'm excited by the possibility, mostly because being able to have Dirk Campbell's Origins ALWAYS loaded on the minis would be amazing...

Thanks for taking the time to read! Thank you for the help!

Tyler
