What is the official way to sincronize photos between iPhone and Vista?

Hello,

I am trying to understand how do I use my iPhone camera with Vista computer. The only way I can download photos from iPhone is through "my computer", but a) it is not automatic (so I lost photos when it updated software) and b)I can't move the photos back to iPhone even through iTunes (the one that I made using iPhone!), because of some error.

So what Apple (or non-Apple?) software should I download to move photos back and forth between iPhone and Vista, and automatically synchronize photos in both ways? Do I have to pay extra money for it? Obviously there is no iPhotos (or what's it called?) on Vista.

E6600, Windows Vista, 8800GTX, 2GB RAM

Thanks, I will try that program (never heard about it before). So your reply is really helpful.

However I wonder, what is the OFFICIAL way to do it? How are we suppose to do it according to Apple?

As for uploading, I have problems uploading the images through iTunes that were taking by iPhone itself. It gives me some kind of error. The other images however can be uploaded (but also not all) but it takes like 30sec for each image to be converted to something before it uploads to iPhone. Highly inconvenient.

Plus, how can I make both Picassa and iTunes automatically started when I connect iPhone?

I have the answer!

Well sort of ... not the official answer and I don't know all of the rules. But, I know why my photos were not be transfered to my iPhone or my iPod.

The file names are very particular ... no parenthesis ... and some times no spaces ... I guess if there are three words in the file name. Join the names together and get rid of punctuation except for underscores "_" ( dashes might be ok but I didn't test them) and it will work!

Stupid iTunes programmers.

I finally contacted apple support and the official answer is the following. Use autoplay to point on "import windows using vista". then run windows photo gallery program and in options for it, point to required folder (play with other options as well). Vista will download all photos automatically.

Then use iTunes and point it to the same folder to sync. So, the iTunes will sync everything to iPhone but not to camera roll, but to photo album on iPhone. This way, if you set windows photo gallery program to delete photos from iPhone after download, after syncing, all your photos will be transfered from camera roll, to computer then back to iPhone but to the photo-album.

Great!

Now if only my iTunes could indeed upload photos to iPhone (does not seem to work with RAID 0)

I thought Vista handled the iPhone real well. I was immediately prompted about what to do with the photos on the iPhone 2 secs after I plugged the phone in. Sounds like your default settings for devices upon connect may have been changed. I pointed to a folder I made called iPhotos and then had iTunes sync that folder.

For device setting changes. Go to START – Control Panel – Auto Play

And the ONLY problem I have in Vista is with iTunes, (another one with playback by iTunes the videos that I have purchased in the iTunes Store). All other programs and games that I have work great on Vista.

Microsoft can be blamed for many things but this particular problem is 100% Apple problem. They have to solve it!
