1.0.2 Causes Unbalanced Sound with Headphones

Since the 1.0.2 update I've noticed that when wearing headphones the sound is much louder in the left headphone than the right one. This wasn't a problem before in 1.0 and 1.0.1. Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a fix if so? I couldn't find any stereo balance controls in any of the settings.

I have not had such a problem, and have not seen any posts similar to yours since the 1.0.2 update.

I have my doubts that the update caused the problem. It could be that something has gone bad with your headphones. If you have the same experience with a different set of headphones, then I recommend going to the Apple store or calling 1-800-MY-iPHONE to see if they can solve this issue for you.

Ok that's jacked up. . . I put in a normal set of iPod headphones. . . (ones without the push button) and they were fine. Then I plugged my iPhone headphones back in and now auto-magically the sound is balanced again. . .

Very strange. I checked the really obvious stuff before by making sure it was all the way in the jack. . and that the cable didn't have a short in it.

Looks like there are still some gremlins in the code.

Could it have also been a bad recording of that song? Maybe the file didn't download properly. Anyway, just thought I would bring that up even though you have it fixed now.

Could have also been that the plug was not all the way in, that would commonly happen with any audio gear.

Sometimes those little earpieces slip around in your ear and stereo imaging goes out the window. Audiophile headphones they're not. I find I cannot even drink, or talk, or sing along without having to readjust those things in my ear.

I have the same problem, At first I thought i blew out the right earphone. I have an appointment setup tomorrow at an apple store. Did you do a upgrade or full restore when you updated?

I think restoring the iphone fixed it, I will say that I am extremely disapointed with the iTunes backup feature. I lost tons of txt messages and everything other then contacts.

I saw somewhere another sound problem was solved/fixed by inserting the headphone jack a couple times.

I wonder being the adaper hole is on top and so large maybe dust and other things get in there. I just looked aat mine and I have a slight dust ring on the little ledge right inside the opening. No telling how much went down the hole.

Problem is back, I tried the headphone in out fix, 😟 How do I roll back to the old firmware?
