How do I connect my Canon printer to my Macbook Pro with Airport?

I just bought a Canon PIXMA MP600 Photo All-in-one printer from the website. I've read that it's possible to connect it to Airport, without the USB from the printer to the computer. How do I do this? I tried searching for printers and it didn't find it.

Can you explain or or cite why this is not possible? I've just purchased a MP600 from apple hoping to do the same (though I wasn't sure how it'd work with the scanner though).

I've looked for info from both apple and canon about compatibility and haven't found an answer for why they won't play together, I admit my search hasn't been very exhaustive though.

The printer can not be wirelessly connected to the AirPort Express (AX) nor the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS). The only wireless interface available to that printer is Bluetooth which is not supported by Apple's base stations.

You could connect the printer to the USB port on the AX or AEBS. Then print wirelessly. Neither of these devices support scanning though. You can check iFelix's site to see if there have been incompatibilities reported.

You could get the optional Bluetooth module for that printer and print wirelessly from your Mac to the printer. Assuming that your Mac has Bluetooth or uses a Bluetooth adapter.
