quicktime.msi error installing 7.2.0.240

iTunes has stopped working and reports quicktime as not working. It suggests resinstalling.

Installing iTunes + Quicktime or standalone realtime prodcues the error - "the feature you are trying t us is on a network resources that is unavailable" and has a box called "Use source..." for defining where this file exists. The .msi file lives in the path specified by default. Clickig OK produces the message "The file 'C:\Program File\Apple Software Update\Packages\Quicktime.msi' is not a valid installation package for the product Quicktime. Try to find the insatllation package 'Quicktime.msi' in a folder from which you can install Quicktime"

There is no change if I browse to the direct from the dialog and select the file.

I have tried uninstalling the current version of Quick Time from "Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs" but this produces the same error. Selecting change in this dialogue also produces the same error.

Selecting "Uninstall Quicktime" from Start > Programes > Qicktime produces the error - uninstall only valid for insatlled products.

To summarise I can neither install or uninstall Quicktime and this is additionally screwing up iTunes.

The current installationof Quicktime is 7.1.5.120

The software update downloads (has been doing this automatically anyway). Then on install produces the same error. The original error was discovered when the automatic download tried to install. The error appears when about 75% of the progress bar has passed. There is additional info in that it says the current version of Quicktime cnnot be removed (I am admin).

I've been having the same problem. I tried to install QuickTime with ITunes and continually got a message stating “the older version of QuickTime cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group.”

I don’t have the option to delete QuickTime from the Control Panel like I do with most other programs. So, I deleted every QuickTime reference on my ‘C’ drive; however, could not do anything except extract a file within the Adobe program folders.

Still can’t download iTunes as the messages above still appears. If I try to install QuickTime 7.2 separately I get an error message that says the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. The file C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\_134\ is not a valid installation package for the product QuickTime. Try to find the installation package "QuickTime.msi" in a folder from which you can Install QuickTime.

Please help. I just purchased another iPod recently and can’t download any iTunes.
