Playing The Sims 2 on Intel Macs

I've had my Sims 2 game installed in my iMac for a long time. I tried to play it yesterday, but I got a message saing that I have o free up some space. What does that mean. I backed up my computer, but that didn't work. Does any one know what will?

How big is your hard drive (in gigabytes, not inches) and how much space is left on it ?

Maybe its time to burn some CDs or DVDs and delete some of the older documents, games, movies, music and applications you don't use any more...

I have Sims 2 on my pasword-protected iMac as well and its good for forcing my daughter to clean up her room in exchange for access.

Click once on your Desktop.

This will return you to the Finder.

From the View menu, go down to Show View Options and click on the Show Item Info button.

Under every hard drive will appear a note saying how big it is and how much room is still available.

But if you have 168 Gigs stil available then your problem is not that the drive is full. You have other issues !!!

Paul - I can assure you that I'm not making this up. Please consult the Aspyr web site for more information on the topic.

Having said that, it doesn't make sense to me either (although I have had it explained to me by a representative at Aspyr). However, it is well known in the Mac Sims 2 community that you need to install the game at the root level of your hard drive or in the games folder. I discovered this because I was having problems with the game, and moving the Sims 2 folder out of the applications file (on the advice of Aspyr) fixed them.
