Dtxpress III and GarageBand

O.K., how about Audio MIDI Setup (/Applications/Utilities/)

The DTX kit is just like a MIDI keyboard. Just plug it in, and assign a drum kit. You can also take the stereo out from the DTX into a 2 channel audio interface and assign a stereo track. You can then record the DTX kits. With MIDI, you record the MIDI hits and you are using the Garageband KIts.

I also use RMIV kits with MIDI from a DTX.

What USB interface are you using to connect your DTXPRESS drumset to your computer? I'm using an M-Audio MIDI Sport Uno, and it's not working the way I expected. I have to play really loud and slow or it misses beats. It looks like a weak signal or something, because sometimes garageband doesn't know that a beat has stopped.

I don't know if this is the Uno, or if I'm supposed to change settings on my set.

MIDISPort 2x2. Do you have he lastest M-Audio Driver? There is no concept of a weak signl in midi. It either works or not.

You should not have to change anything on your set. The only change is at times the maping between the kit and garageband kit.....is not in alignment.

if you're getting soft, or no note from your controller, open GB's prefs and turn up the Keyboard Sensitivity slider
