Can't record Audio

Question

Can't record Audio

Hey guys!

I'm having a bit of trouble here. I want to record audio with the built in mic but for I keep getting an error message saying "disk to slow"

Same thing happens when I try to record audio in iMovie as well.

If anyone has any ideas, that would be great.

laptops, unfortunately, do not have high speed HDs, and this definitely limits the bandwidth available, however a single track should not be an issue

do you have other apps running? how much free disk space is available?

Well I've got 26 gigs left on my hard drive, and no other apps are running.

Though I just found out something. This would happen when I would put the laptop on top of the piano. But when I set it far away, then it works. I am wondering if the vibration has something to do with it? It didn't used to do that though.

that could absolutely be the cause, I've encountered this before.

what happens is the shaking of the laptop forces the HD to re-calibrate itself, or at the very least, keep finding the spot it is trying to read/write to/from.
