Today i switched from DSL to cox cable internet. How do i setup my airport and the other computers on my network to be able to use my new internet connection.
(a) Configure the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) to connect to your ISP with the settings provided by your ISP (or copy them from the Network preference pane on your Mac).
(b) Power off the cable modem. This causes it to forget the device it was talking to. When it is powered up it will discover a new device (the AEBS) to talk to.
NOTE: Some cable modems have a reset button on the back. Some cable modems have an internal battery which must be removed to allow a complete reset of the cable modem. Sometimes it requires leaving the cable modem off overnight so that the connection with the ISP will accept the new device connected to the cable modem.
(c) Connect the cable modem's Ethernet output to the AEBS's WAN port. Power everything on.
(d)
-->(1) If your Mac is connecting wireless, ensure that the Network preference pane->AirPort is configured to get an IP address using DHCP. Ensure that any and all PPPoE settings are off.
->(2) If your Mac is connecting via Ethernet, ensure that the Network preference pane->Ethernet is configured to get an IP address using DHCP. Ensure that any and all PPPoE settings are off.
