keyboard shortcut for ScreenShot does not work.

Just as a quick test, press Apple-Option-3 at the same time. Does a file called Picture 1.png show on your Desktop?

Can you use the Grab Utility (you can find it in /Applications/Utilities) for screenshots? I believe the shortcut keys use Grab, though I'm not 100% positive.

My girlfriend has the same issue on her MacBook. She hears the photo sound after making a screenshot, but no screenshot is saved on the desktop. It worked at the beginning. I now installed a prefpane to change the destination, it worked once, but today again, it's not working anymore.
Where do the screenshots disappear ?
Grab works, but it's much more convenient to just hit cmd shift4 or cmd shift3
any ideas?

Hm, is there any way to fix this other than a clean install??

Problem started for me after my trial for SnapzX Pro ran out...
I uninstalled, and no longer had apple screen shot functionality.
I asked on their forums, did every step of the manual uninstall (multiple times) and still no love.

I've also got the camera sound, but
a. No file is produced
b. Nothing is copied to the clipboard

REALLY don't want to have to do clean install at this point...

Any advice would be appreciated!
