Is there USB 1.1 to USB 2.0 Upgrading Software-Patch?

Hello,
I wanted to buy External-DVD-Writer with USB connection,
all the models are *USB 2.0* specific,
my imac has *USB 1.1* on the computer and the keyboard,
sales person told me that there is *USB 2.0 UPGRADE* that i can download
and upgrade my *USB 1.1* to *USB 2.0*.
Is there such a download?

The sales person is wrong. There is no software or firmware download which will upgrade the USB ports.

If you want USB 2 you will have to buy a different Mac.

Hello,

It would be far better to purchase a Firewire External Drive. You cannot boot a PowerPC (G4) iMac from a USB drive and Firewire is faster for sustained transfers than USB2.0.

OWC DVD±RW DL Burner.

I would suggest that you shop elsewhere in future; this sales person clearly doesn't understand what they are trying to discuss(!).
