iPhone does not give me "username" prompt for connecting to WiFi, only pass
When connecting with my computer, I get a user name and password prompt, but with my iPhone, it only asks for a password and won't log in. What am I supposed to do to get the iPhone to input my user name?
You do not use usernames for connecting to a wifi connection - only a password. The login you might be referring to is the login for your particular computer
not necessarily true, depending on network encryption types, ie.. 802.1x or authentication type some wifi networks due in face require user name and password to access, ie. my school network... and at this point the apple iphone does not support these features. it will most likely have to be a software update to resolve this problem if it gets resolved at all
This is your answer. You are trying to connect to a WPA Enterprise or WPA2 Enterprise WiFi network, which Apple doesn't support.
WPA/WPA2 Enterprise require both a username and password. It is a very common type of WiFi protocol today. I am baffled as to why Apple hasn't implemented it into the iPhone already, considering the iPhone runs a "full" version of OS X.
ive had this phone for almost 4 hours and i am VERY dissappointed. and i got it after the $200 price drop. Got my first apple computer when i was 8, been using them since i was 4, so this lack of completeness is very traumatic after a long line of flawless apple products.
almost no customization.
of course no wpa authentication for wifi.
cant add tasks in the calendar on my iphone.
cant seem to find how to turn the backlight on for longer, so when im in a voice menu and have to push buttons, i cant see what im pressing cause the screen shut off.
