ECC memory errors

I have a new 2.66 Mac Pro with 5 gigs of ram and noticed I have an "ecc error" on one of the 1 GB sticks. Is this somethig to be concerned about?

Thank you.

personally I'd not worry about it but I'd just keep an eye on it. correctable or not wouldn't make any difference to me; it's either a one time minor event or it will continue and if it continues I'd ask for an exchange. Again, and it's just me, I wouldn't ask or care about whether the error is correctable. Today's correctable may be tomorrow cascading failure so if it shows another error I'd contact them and simply tell them I am getting repeated ecc errors with the chip and ask for a replacement.

If all the errors are on the same RAM module, get it replaced. Correctable, means that only one bit was bad in a word, so the error correcting circuitry was able to calculate its correct value by using extra bits that are stored in each word. Errors should be rare, and not confined to one memory module. If the memory module is good, the only errors should be those caused by radiation, such as cosmic rays, decay of trace radioactive elements in the memory package, a local nuclear reactor explosion, or global nuclear war. Multiple errors in just one module mean that something in it is just on the edge of not working, and it should be replaced. Multiple errors in all the modules means head for your fallout shelter.

Hey guys I have ECC Correctable Errors (26,200,499 in the last 3 days of uptime) on all 4x1gb Techworks chips I'm running. I got them price-mistake-cheap on NewEgg ($44/gig) a few months ago. The trouble is, I bought them in the US and I use the system in India. I really don't want to send the 4gb back in and survive with 1gb for who knows how long for it to be fixed.

Any suggestions? Can I manage as is?

I also have the issue of weird amounts of memory showing up from boot to boot. From my real 5gb to 3gb, then 4gb (reads 2x of the techworks 1xgigs at 512s only). 3gb is actually an acceptable amount for me (only have 5 because it was actionably cheap) so I've largely only watched it out of interest.
