Lost all Mail and Account settings

Hi There,

Recently converted to the mac comming from windows and all be great until today.Only had the macbook 2 weeks.
Had set up three accounts on the mail system and imported all my old saved mails over ok a couple of days back.
For some reason i was changing the mail sounds and the system crashed this happened twice when looking in the console log.
There was no pop ups with delete account details or anything else strange.

Now when i open mail a get the creat new account window and nothing else.

Is there anyway this can be resotred? and also has anyone i idea how this may have happened.

Cheers

Simon

Simon,

Make a duplicate of the Mail folder, in entirety and drag the copy to the Desktop strictly for temporary backup.

Next enter you account set up info, but when prompted to allow importing DECLINE. Mail should rediscover the existing account folders and all should be well.

Was there any chance you had a temporary surge in disk space usage -- this could account for losing preferences?

the same thing happened to me. Four days I installed Leopard and now my POP mail that I mainly use dissapeared with all my mail. They should have given clear instructions on how to not loose the email account. To me this has caused a significant issue. How in the world am I going to be able to restore my email account and all the messages I received and sent?

This is a bunch of crap if you ask me.
