How to tell what version USB (2.0 vs 1.1) my G4 has?

I have a G4 ibook, but can't tell whether the USB version is 2.0 or 1.1. This is important because my wife wants a webcam and I understand they only really work if you have 2.0.

When I got "About This Mac" and look at the USB specs, it doesn't say whether it is 2.0 or 1.1. Is there a way to tell? This is what it says otherwise:

USB Bus:

Vendor Name: Apple Computer, Inc.
Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
Product ID: 32773 ($8005)
Bus Power (mA): 500

Thanks

ibook G4, Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Hi again Kurt,

I've never used the iBook so I only had the everymac specs to go on. Sure is a bit confusing))).

I guess we should have known from the "Speed" that is listed in Christophers Profiler though. If the speed is 12Mbps then it would have to be 1.1 usb wouldn't it? I didn't catch that the first time I read the Profiler specs that Christopher posted. 2.0 usb is much higher isn't it?

best,

Thanks folks. I notice actualy in my system profiler I have 3 USB entires with the 12 Mbits, which are apparently USB 1.1. However, I also have one USB High Speed Bus entry which is 480:

USB High-Speed Bus:

Vendor Name: Apple Computer, Inc.
Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec
Product ID: 32774 ($8006)
Bus Power (mA): 500

Does this mean at least one of my USBs is 2.0?

Relatedly... why do I have 4 USB entries in the profiler (three 1.1 and one 2.0), when I only have 2 USB ports on the ibook?

Thanks!

Christopher,

Yes, I'm sure that means that you have a 2.0 usb port on the iBook if Profiler is showing an entry for a port with a speed of up to 480.

I'm not sure why you are showing 4 usb entries in your Profiler though. Perhaps this has something to do with the optional 2.0 usb port mentioned in the EveryMac.com specs for some of the iBooks. As I said above to Kurt, I have never owned an iBook so I'm not that familiar with their configurations.

You did not post back with your exact model of iBook. This may help explain why you are seeing this. Did you have a chance to find your model iBook in the EveryMac.com listings and have a look at its specs there?
