rockingurl27,

I'm sorry, but reading and deciphering your post is quite difficult. Not everyone in these forums is used to this texting language of shortcut words. You'll find that you're more likely to get assistance if you spell out words and use punctuation. Honestly, I'm not even going to try and finish reading your last post to translate what you're saying.

oh my god..im terribly sorry about this...anyways, this is what i meant to say:

hmm, my problem is that twice my ipod jammed up and i had to wait until my battery dies out. i've posted this problem some other time, and a user told me that "heres the problem buying a $300 ipod and not buyin and $80 external hd". so i was wondering what that was. Could you explain external hd a little more please as im soo confused 😀...thanks in advance! and again, really sorry for the inconvenience!

You computer has a hard drive where everything is stored.

Some people don't like to fill up their computer hard drive with music and the like, so after transferring it to the iPod, they delete it from the computer hard drive and so free up space.

Trouble is, an iPod is not a reliable device for long term storage of all your music etc, and a problem could arise whereby the iPod develops a fault and needs to be restored. Everything is wiped from the iPod and because there is no music stored on the computer hard drive, there's no way of reloading it to the iPod. It's gone.

So, many of us recommend storing the music on another hard drive called an external hard drive. These are small box like enclosures containing a hard drive just like the one in your computer that attach to one of your computers usb ports and can contain all your music/photos/videos and anything else you wish to store on it without having to store it on your computer's hard drive.

And you'll always have the music to reload to your iPod in the event of a problem that requires a restore, or if the iPod is lost or stolen.
