Hello Gulliver, nice to see you again

As far as I know, (a friend of mine got this error, but some time ago, and with a PC + AOL Box and not with a Mac). What I learned at that time is, that the 502 error msg tells, either a fail during connecting a DHCP server (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) when the contacted server is trying to give you an IP, or an error when the server is trying to authenticate you. Most of the time, your computer is not the culprit, but it can be if your configuration is not appropriate to the server you are trying to connect. For instance if the DHCP server doesn’t accept your network configuration. If I remember well, my friend met this error when he was himself using his own local network. I would suggest to check your configuration ( IP via DHCP in automatic mode rather than in manual, ... )

Gulliver,
As I said, most of the time, the culprit is not the client but the server. But in this case, as other people can connect to the store, I would suggest to try to connect either from another computer or from another user, just to check if your present computer can be in incriminated.

The culprit can also be localized between your home and the store. I mean your Internet access supplier for instance.

(-I found this Apple page : http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=24938-de which tells that 502 is a “bad gateway”.)

Hi Gulliver,
That is an explanation. So I checked with my Mac since I have NetBarrier installed, and I noticed that in fact, iTunes, when connecting to the store is not using only port 52000, but a wide range of ports above 52000, from 52300 to 52700. (this Discussion forum is using several ports above 52700 for instance). Unfortunately, I don't know a way to force iTunes to use another range of ports. (I guess your firewall is especially set to prevent some kind of music traffic... , 😟
