iPod won't play any songs...stuck on 0.00

Just recently (maybe after the latest iTunes "upgrade") my iPod now will not play any tracks. I have completely re-set it and redownloaded all my music to the iPod. All the functions of the iPod work fine (scroll wheel, folders, etc). But no matter what song is chosen, it's just frozen on 0.00 and doesn't play. It does play fine when connected to iTunes.

Somebody out there, please help!!!

I've noticed when I re-synch my iPod (even if I haven't added or deleted any songs) that the unit will start to work again. The time it works varies. But it definitely gets stuck at some point and has the 0.00 problem on any song it tries to play. I am willing to bet the house that it has to do with the latest iTunes upgrade. WHY do they keep upgrading the **** program?? Is there a way to go back to the previous version since everything worked totally fine before?? Someone please help...this is VERY frustrating!

Thanks!

iTunes is updated all the time. But now they are updating it to help out the new iPHONE and now the Touch versions will probably need an update too.

If you just listen to music, Do not update unless the update has a New feature you need.

Same thing with Microsoft updates, I always wait a few days to make sure it does not break something.

I have the same problem....and i did some research and i think this problem has something to do with the new firmware 1.2.1...im trying to downgrade but i need the ipod software update file..that can be found on C:\Documents and Settings\(CUrrent user)\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates.... so if u have the file ipod_25.1.2 please post...

This morning my 4G iPod got stuck just like that and I played around and finally got it to reset. A couple of the posts suggested that the HD is sticking and a slight tap to a determined smack as the unit is restarting will remedy the situation. I did that and did not have it freeze or partially play a tune for the next hour or so but I need to see what happens the next time I play some music.

I am suspicious that the new iTunes, being optimized for the newer generation units, might be slamming our older ones.

This just be the excuse to buy a Classic ... hehehe

I have an 80GB 5th Gen iPod with the same symptoms.

I had a talk with an Apple rep and they said this is not normal behavior (obviously) and they offered to have it repaired/replaced. We did some troubleshooting over the phone and narrowed it down to the hard disk. For me it seems like this happens when the iPod comes out of deep sleep. I press play and it shows Now Playing but does not forward the play head nor does the time elapsed change. And I don't hear anything either. Only way for it to play is to put it back to sleep (hold play) and then turn it on again. You can feel/hear the hard disk inside spin up. Then the iPod will play.

However this problem only happens intermittently. I was not able to reproduce the problem over the phone but the Rep said they would have a look at it anyway. So if you're debating whether to call tech support... don't. Give them a call. Good Luck.

My iPod (30 gb. color display, no video) has the same problem. It froze on 0.00, and I couldn't do anything, but leave it until it was totally discharged. Now I can't start it. The apple-logo apperas but is after a while replaced by a sag iPod-logo and a link to the support site.

I have tried the 5 R's, with lot of resets and just about everything else. The great problem seems to be that my computer (tried 3 different), can't discover the iPod.

Before the new update I didn't have any problems and I had lots of battery-time. But now I can't use my iPod at all! Very, very sad since the garantie just has run out.

Any ideas someone, please?
